Climate change

Climate change is the greatest environmental challenge facing the world today. Rising global temperatures will bring changes in weather patterns, rising sea levels and increased frequency and intensity of extreme weather. The effects will be felt in the UK; internationally there may be severe problems for people in regions that are particularly vulnerable.

The UK is acting now to adapt to climate change and to reduce the risk by contributing less to the causes. These pages explain what climate change means for the UK and what we are doing about it. www.defra.gov.uk

International action for a low carbon, high growth global economy

The UK is working with other countries and international institutions such as the EU and UN to rapidly shift towards a lower carbon world is one of our key goals. We're also focussed on securing energy for the UK and tackling the challenges of a global economy.
