Our Visa section processes some 15,000 applications a year from non-European Economic Area nationals resident in Ireland. The majority of these are visit visas. Over 90% of straightforward non-settlement applications are issued on the day of receipt or on the following working day. Over 90% of non-straightforward, non-settlement applications are resolved within our target time of 15 working days. 

All applications forms are completed on line prior to the applicants coming to the Embassy in person for biometric scans. Visits to the Embassy are by appointment only. They are also made on-line at the time of completing the application form. Payments can also be made on line by credit card.

Most applications are resolved on the papers submitted with the application, but if necessary applicants will be interviewed, either briefly by telephone, or in greater depth at the Embassy premises, for which purpose a separate appointment will be given. Due to space constraints in the Embassy, applications are not resolved at the time of submission. All completed applications are returned by registered mail.
